Personalized Canvas Tote
I got a hot pink black and white striped Victoria Secret canvas tote bag to use for the hot summer days at the beach. I love the color and size of the bag - and did I mention it was HOT PINK?!? hehe... so it's very easy to spot. I soon found out that others thought so too. So I was at the pool and I thought someone had moved MY beach bag (how dare they) when in fact, it was just someone else's bag that was the same as mine. OK. Time to do something about it! What better way to set your stuff apart from other people's stuff than to personalize it with your own name. In this project, I used my logo/signature/watermark, but you can use any font, symbol, letters, words, or name of your choice. Let's get started!
Step 1 : Print out the design you want, the size you want, on your inkjet printer
Step 2 : Glue stick the design directly onto contact paper (not the backing)
Step 3 : Cut out design. Remember you are painting whatever you cut out so save the insides of letters like Bs, Ps, lower case Gs, etc. Think stencil.
Step 4 : Paint with fabric paint (any color you want of course!) with a hard bristle brush in dabbing up & down motion. Focus more on the edges so it makes a more defined line.
Step 5 : Before it dries completely, tear away a small part of the contact paper to check if the paint went all the way to the edges.
Step 6 : Tear away stencil and touch up any places you might have missed with a fine tip brush.
*Remember fabric paint takes at least 24 hrs to dry permanently and you should wait at least 72 hrs before washing it.
